National Park Beaches
Minehead
Beach. An excellent clean large sandy beach which sweeps
around Minehead Bay offering far reaching views over the
Bristol Channel and along the Welsh coast. Minehead Beach
is accessed by a wide attractive promenande. Minehead
Golf Club and Butlins Holiday Park are located at one
end, the other end is the old part of Minehead where fishermens
cottages and Minehead harbour are.
Depending
where you are staying, two of Britain's best blue flag
beaches are within easy reach of Exmoor National Park.
The north Devon holiday beaches of Woolacombe and Putsbrough
are about 1 hours drive away from Minehead. You have a
choice of two scenic routes on quiet roads, one route
via Dunster, Wheddon Cross, Exford, Simonsbath over the
moor. The other route is possibly the most scenic coastal
drive in southern Britain. This Somerset and North Devon
coastal route passes through Porlock, County Gate, Countisbury,
Lynmouth then wends its way south to Blackmore Gate and
Kentisbury. This route offers awe-inspiring far reaching
seascapes from the top of Porlock Hill and Countisbury
Hill. Enjoy extensive inland moorland views over the Brendon
Valley, Brendon Common and over the glorious Watersmeet
Estate or in the amazing Valley of The Rocks both delight
people who love walking amid wonderful scenery..
Exmoor
and west Somerset also has Dunster Beach which enjoys
lovely views along the Somerset coast. Dunster Beach is
privatly owned, kept very clean, has car parking and a
little cafe. Dogs may be walked on one end of Dunster
Beach. Dunster Beach also offers attractive beach side
chalets to rent, many have direct access to the beach
and sea views. Blue Anchor Beach attracts fishermen galore.
Kilve Beach is ideal for fossil hunters.More beaches and
coastal areas Porlock Shingle Ridge, Lee Bay, Combe Martin
Beach, Ilfracombe Beach. A little further afield, but
within easy driving distance are the 4 miles of golden
sand on Woolacombe Beach and Putsbrough Beach. Perfect
for families holidays. Around Baggy Point lie the north
Devon surfing beaches of Croyde, Saunton, Braunton.
